Quantum mechanics (QM — also known as quantum physics, or quantum theory) is a branch of physics which deals with physical phenomena at nanoscopic scales where the action is on the order of the Planck constant. It departs from classical mechanics primarily at the quantum realm of atomic and subatomic length scales. Quantum mechanics provides a mathematical description of much of the dual particle-like and wave-like behavior and interactions of energy and matter. Quantum mechanics provides a substantially useful framework for many features of the modern periodic table of elements including the behavior of atoms during chemical bonding and has played a significant role in the development of many modern technologies.

In advanced topics of quantum mechanics, some of these behaviors are macroscopic (see macroscopic quantum phenomena) and emerge at only extreme (i.e., very low or very high) energies or temperatures (such as in the use of superconducting magnets). For example, the angular momentum of an electron bound to an atom or molecule is quantized. In contrast, the angular momentum of an unbound electron is not quantized. In the context of quantum mechanics, the wave–particle duality of energy and matter and the uncertainty principle provide a unified view of the behavior of photons, electrons, and other atomic-scale objects.

The mathematical formulations of quantum mechanics are abstract. A mathematical function, the wavefunction, provides information about the probability amplitude of position, momentum, and other physical properties of a particle. Mathematical manipulations of the wavefunction usually involve bra–ket notation which requires an understanding of complex numbers and linear functionals. The wavefunction formulation treats the particle as a quantum harmonic oscillator, and the mathematics is akin to that describing acoustic resonance. Many of the results of quantum mechanics are not easily visualized in terms of classical mechanics. For instance, in a quantum mechanical model the lowest energy state of a system, the ground state, is non-zero as opposed to a more “traditional” ground state with zero kinetic energy (all particles at rest). Instead of a traditional static, unchanging zero energy state, quantum mechanics allows for far more dynamic, chaotic possibilities, according to John Wheeler.

The earliest versions of quantum mechanics were formulated in the first decade of the 20th century. About this time, the atomic theory and the corpuscular theory of light (as updated by Einstein)[1] first came to be widely accepted as scientific fact; these latter theories can be viewed as quantum theories of matter and electromagnetic radiation, respectively. Early quantum theory was significantly reformulated in the mid-1920s by Werner Heisenberg, Max Born and Pascual Jordan, (matrix mechanics); Louis de Broglie and Erwin Schrödinger (wave mechanics); and Wolfgang Pauli and Satyendra Nath Bose (statistics of subatomic particles). Moreover, the Copenhagen interpretation of Niels Bohr became widely accepted. By 1930, quantum mechanics had been further unified and formalized by the work of David Hilbert, Paul Dirac and John von Neumann[2] with a greater emphasis placed on measurement in quantum mechanics, the statistical nature of our knowledge of reality, and philosophical speculation about the role of the observer. Quantum mechanics has since permeated throughout many aspects of 20th-century physics and other disciplines including quantum chemistry, quantum electronics, quantum optics, and quantum information science.   1. The world that we live in exhibits definite behaviour. This statement is itself wrong. The rules of QM are working here similar to the quantum world. The facts that things look definite here is because of the missing link.. consciousness, which is me, spread into many. At one place due to my identification with my quantum body and simultaneously at all places due to the same identification of myself with the other quantum bodies. Quantum secrets are available to each one of us in nature when we dream while asleep. While we see a whole new world in our dream and are convinced of its multiplicity, one among them we take upon as ourself. But when we wake up in a higher dimension of consciousness, the moment our sleep ends, we need no scientific temper to suggest ourself that all that we thought of as reality in our dreams was nothing else, but my own creation, it was sustained by me and it finally got annihilated in me, including myself as my dream body. The only underlying constant in this dream journey was me, conscious before, during and after the dream to account for the phenomenon of reality, be it in waking or dream state of being.

  4. could it be that we have all this backward? like how they used to believe in geocentric theory, perhaps the periodic table is wrong in the available number of electrons for a given element. its just that our technology doesnt allow us to observe all the electrons and thus we stumbled upon this prism light behavior and are interpreting it totally wrong until capernicus like genius comes along to enlighten these idiots. and that genius would be no other than… ME!!!

  7. They claim "teleportation" but in reality they already have "shipped" the particles to the desired location and then overlayed the information via a transmitter over the particles that is not "teleportation".
    True teleportation is moving the same group of particles from A to B not copy and paste

  9. Its crazy 6 million + people just from this video learned about some advanced theory. Crazy just couple decades ago you would have to go to a college to learn about this. We are living in the information golden age.

If we are talking about teleportation, in which case we are, even if the original you is destroyed into and then another you reappears in Paris, it may have all of the same particles, but the real question is, will it still be you? If that new you comes out on the other side, will you still be inside of that body, or is it a whole new person with new thoughts and feelings, leaving you a pile of protons, neutrons and electrons?

  11. Question. Is it possible that subatomic particals vibrate amongst a 4th dimensional plain?
    What if quantum entanglment is just the same particle making 2 passes through our plain of time, which would explain why they have "spooky action" and if they're making millions of passes through our plain of time that could also explain why a single electron acts like a wave rather than a particle.
    Perhaps I'm too apt to agree with Einstein, but has anyone considered that subatomic particals are just so small they can slip through the fabric of time?
